so first off, can i mount a d16z6 or d16y8  intake mani onto it and take out the egt ?

i have the stock d15z1 ecu i thijnmk p07 can i chip it to disabole egt+o2 ??

or should i get a p28 and do that ?

HOW DI I WIRE IN VTEC Huh

can i just hook it up to the positive and have it always on ? vtec-e engages at 2.200-2.500 anywase so.

That engine will run like garbage with VTEC-E constantly on and boosted, especially with a base-mapped ECU.

Just about any D-series manifold should bolt on. Not sure if it'll get rid of the EGR or not.

The D15Z1 ECU is OBD1, you'll need a jumper harness to put it in an EK. If the chassis you're putting it in doesn't have VTEC pre-wired, you'll need to wire it yourself.

Sounds like a pointless swap to me.

Are you sure about this?

We boosted my friends.  We used a P06 ecu and hardwired vtec so it was always on.  The thing ripped.

I suppose the one I worked with could have been a garbage motor. Aside from economy, I haven't heard much great news about the Z1, so there's an assumption on my part. My bad.

Dustin just quoted you a price for install and wiring, I'd imagine with the engine already installed, it'll be cheaper, and your best bet.

If it is just wiring vtec up and cleaning things up you should be around $150

well if ur going to turbo might as well get a z6 head and ecu and youll bump ur cr down around 8 something not 100 % sure but great for turbo also with the z6 head youll add some torque but make sure u get some ls rods in there much stronger then the z1 rods good up to around 300hp add a vtec e valve cover hide turbo and u have sleeper status hope it helps

Don't waste your time and money on ls rods. Your better off getting eagle rods. Maybe STS can help you out hiding that turbo? No fuck that too. If you are going to boost it is is mounted between the radiator support and the engine.

Just get a different motor. You're in a world of trouble getting that motor to work in that car. Sell that motor and ECU on gassavers.com

Depending on whether you have a CA or federal ECU, in addition to an OBD1 to OBD2 conversion harness, you'll need to add wiring for EGR, O2 sensor, and VTEC-E. That's about 12 wires.

The EGR is on the intake manifold, but w/out it, that motor will never pass smog. And it will have a permanent CEL.

You CANNOT get this motor to run decently on a P28. VTEC-E engages around 2500 RPM. VTEC engages around 5500 RPM. And you can't just lock it in 16 valve mode (VTEC-E) and run it on a P06 cuz it will idle and run like shit.

The Z1 has tiny ports, a tiny throttle body, a tiny intake manifold, tiny valves, and the extreme swirl designed into the combustion chamber is bad for any attempt at a power upgrade. The transmission has extremely long ratios because this engine is designed to cruise at 1000 RPM. Yeah, you can put a turbo in a 3 cyl Geo Metro and say "it rips". The fact is that you're much better putting a turbo on any other motor (except the 8 valve CX motor).

Here is the D15Z1 throttle body.
