I plan on changing out the axles on my '98 ek, its an Automatic D-Series.. Do you guys recommend Honda ATF, or is there any stuff I can pick up at the local AutoZone that will work good?  Its just a daily-beater with like 190k on the trans, and I have no idea when the fluid was last changed as I just got the car a few months ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, is the trans in a DX a CVT trans, or no?   I searched a bit but couldnt find the answer.

I've never used anything other than honda atf, I felt like it gave the autos in my life a fighting chance.  Your dx doesn't have a cvt unless someone did an hx swap.

I really dont know how much it goes for.. PM me what you want for it, and keep in mind I'd have to drive from West Valley, down south to pick it up.  That is, if you want to get rid of it.

You absolutely HAVE to use Honda ATF or a brand of fluid that specifically says "Honda" on it (I think Valvoline is the only aftermarket brand). Using regular ATF will slowly burn up the trans and destroy the clutch packs.

Honda automatics up to 00 are unique. There are two types of automatic transmissions (not counting CVT's), planetary gearset transmissions and "Hondamatics".

Too bad it's not manual so you can't use GM Synchromesh fluid.
