shit, i'll work for him provided he hooks me up with some rides in the rsx that would've won sts, last year, if he'd been a member. Nice try.

I really, really want to try auto-x this year. The only thing holding me back is a weird tranny problem. If I try to rev anywhere past 2k and try to launch at all (if that's even what you call it) the transmission makes a weird whirring noise. I suppose I can just stomp the gas but that would seem hopeless to me, having to rev from 1000rpm up to 6500 to get as much measily power as I can.
I'm only driving a 98 civic coupe with the stock single cam and the crappy vtec-e, but I have a carbon hood and some suspension mods, which I heard would automatically put me in SM.
Setup: D16y5 SOHC Intake, Header, High-flow cat, Exhaust
KYB AGX adjustable dampers Eibach Sportline springs Skunk2 camber kit in front, washer trick in back UGR rear lower arms Front upper strut bar ASR subframe reinforcement OEM Type R 22mm swaybar
Some plane-jane Cooper Xeon 205/40r16s on oem size brembo cross drilled / slotted rotors
Any advice? Should I worry about the tranny or just give it a shot anyways?
sorry buddy but you're automatically in sm class w/ that cf hood. if you had a stock hood, you'd be in sts class w/ me. i'd say give it a shot.

I still have my stock hood in Michigan, maybe I'll get it shipped out here and run it for Solo. I just have a feeling that I won't enjoy it much with my current motor in SM class. I mean i'm sure I'll have fun driving, but it'll suck trying to compete with swapped hondas, sti's and evo's with awd. I'm about to hit 170,000 on my motor. I was pretty much set on doing a basic jdm b16a swap, maybe with lsd. But I keep entertaining the thought of throwing a mini-me swap on and running 6-7psi on the sohc. I've seen some quick d-series, even with a basic bolt-on kit. Not to mention if something breaks, its cheaper to replace than b-series. Hell I don't even know what I want anymore.
