Just got back from the last event of the season. Only 12 drivers so we got like 11-15 runs in. It was dry and sunny in tooele but pretty cold. My first autox on r-comps was a learning experience for the first few runs. Now I can't go back to street tires. The road courses @ Miller look awesome. If I don't go to Fontana next weekend I'm going to hit up the open track day. There is 1 more autox with the Porsche car club on the 25th or 26th at the davis fairgrounds in farmington, its $25 and the Porsche guys are pretty chill. LMK if any of you guys want to go I'll get you some more info. Jamie

Porsche car club autox Davis county fair grounds. Tomorrow morning October 26th registration begins at 8:00am. They do enforce a excessive noise policy so if your car is loud please don't come. I raced with these guys once last year and had a good time. We just need to be respectful of their rules so we can continue to race with them. I hope to see a few of you tomorrow.

I need a helmet too. You had to work today didn't you? I thought I saw your car at your place of employment.

Yep, I work at the circuit on 700e 2100s as an installer. I'm dying to get out of there and get a web development job, so I can work a M-F 9-5 shift instead of weekends constantly, not to mention much higher pay. I keep missing meets and auto-x races because I constantly have to work.
Quick ? though. I read in the SCCA rules that if you buy a helmet, it has to be snell certified 05 or something. But I actually looked at all the loner helmets at the e-center auto-x and almost all of them were some other kind of certification, they were basically bike helmets. Could I get away with buying one of those, because they're way cheaper than snell certified helmets, which seem to be up towards the $200 range.

I used to race with the porsche club when I had my Mustang. They did a Porches, Ponies for Puppies run to benefit the animal shelter, They were really cool to run with, one guy even asked if he could ride with me & gave me some pointers since I hadn'e run very much.

I haven't done a ton of research so take this however you want. I'm going to stick with the snell certified helmets because there are honored by other associations such as NHRA and MMP. I'm not sure about the Motorcycle helmets and how long they are certified for. Snell comes out every 5 years but are good for 9 years. So 2005 helmets will be good until 2014. So thats most likely what I will be picking up unless 2010 comes out next year.
