Does anyone know if a bungie chord will work for a battery tie down to pass tech? I have never had my battery attached properly as it sits so securely without one.

I used a bungie once, they shook the battery and called it good. That was a few years back though.

Potter, you'll probably want to fab a bracket before you head out there. I was in the same boat as you as my battery sits securly with out a bracket and last time I was at midnights they wouldnt let me race because I didnt have a bracket. I had to make one on spot and barely got it to pass tech inspection.

Ill just take the line off and vent straight from the catch can to atmosphere. Or if I can ill throw a filter on it to look legit. Cant run it to the intake as my car is turbocharged.

Yeah Im thinking of getting another set of rims for slicks, and the skunk drag kit. I would just run stock axles, and try to get better at not breaking them.  I just dont want to drop 1200 for axles when I only make it down there once a year.Plus im starting another project car. Does preloading make a noticeable difference on your clutch life? Also what rpm is your 2-step set at when your doing this?

I know what you mean aftermarket axles are far from cheap and not cheap as in lowballer talk either lol. As for your 2 step, its all dependent on the car. Your 2 step isn't gonna be the same as say Ryans, his car hooks at a different RPM then yours does. You just have to find that mark of where your hooking pretty good without completely breaking loose.

Explain preloading... yea I know noob question

Edit...Never mind
The main reason that you would per-load the clutch is to take out any play or slop in the drive train. Mainly the air gab in the ring and pinion. That way when you lunch the gears are already touching and you minimize the changes of shearing teeth off of the ring gear. You are also putting the CV joints under load and will extend their life. You only need to let of the clutch a very small amount to accomplish this. Yes it does eat a clutch up a little bit but no more than street driving, However it saves trannys and axles plus you are not shocking the tires as hard when you launch.

Good find on why to preload. Doing it can be complicated for some.

My 2-step is pretty different then yours. I am using an msd digital 6 box mixed in with hondata. So my msd is at 7300 rpm, and my hondata is about 7126, with 80 in the fuel enrichment box, and I wanna say, 26? In the other box. But I sol check my laptop and get back to you lol.

Thanks. Yeah I know every car is a bit different, I just wanted an idea on how hard your launching.    Ill have the new axle in tonight so I hope to practice launching a bit.

That's where you will need slicks to get it off the line. If you want to come out to street legals tonight, I can help you get the preloading and launching down. It takes a minute to get it figured out and get used to doing it before it becomes pretty routine.

Im in the brigham area. I have a wife, two daughters, house, my job requires 45-50hrs minimum a week, and I go to school so its just tough to find the time and energy to make it down there. Cars and coffee was nice but I usually work saturdays. Im going to try and make some more events though. Once my youngest is a little bit older I can bring my family with, and that should help get me out a little more. Those three camaros right next to you belonged to three of my brother in laws, and im trying to get them more invloved in these things. They were impressed with your hatch.

I drive a Corolla that sounds and looks like shit, so I expected to get a lot of crap from the muscle car guys too. Turns out that the one's I've meet have been pretty cool. Them knowing my brother probably doesn't hurt, but whatever.  :)

Oh yeah...Its just joking back and forth. I give as much as I get though. Its mostly preference. There a few muscle cars guys who are absolutely anti import. I think a lot of it stems from them having a lot of pride on the line. Especially when your talking speed, if a honda loses its no big deal most are sub 2 liters. If a ls1 powered car loses its kinda sad...LOL not really but thats where the hostility comes from. I am on Utah Muscle Cars forum (I am going to build a boosted V8), and I can say 90% of the guys are very cool. There are bad apples on both sides though. Every time you come in contact with one those who are close minded its a chance to represent Hondas, and imports in general. Most of them expect a punk 22 year old. So when one acts like a grown @ss man it helps alter their perception.

There is a guy I work with that I've become pretty good friends with.  He used to have a 700hp boosted DSM then moved into a Camero which he has now boosted as well.  We talk alot of shit back and forth but he's the same way.  he has much respect to anyone that takes the time to build their car.  On the flip side we have another guy that works with us and is just an ass hat about the whole American vs Import.
