Wintercross™ 2011-2012
« on: October 24, 2011, 11:33:00 AM »
2011-2012 WinterX Events at Miller Motorsports Park

Lap Battle's Wintercross events are a mix of rally, autocross and road racing. Held on the world-famous Miller Motorsports Park road course in Tooele, Utah, Wintercross combines all aspects of a driver’s skill to navigate a course unlike any other.

The conditions of the track are left to nature and the course of the day. Dry pavement, snow, ice, water, slush, dirt, gravel and mud are a few of the conditions that can be encountered. Drivers must anticipate track conditions, speeds and tire choice in order to obtain the title of Wintercross Champion.

Winners standings will be determined by taking 3 timed hot laps, each separate lap will consist of a portion of the actual race course. The driver with the shortest combined time from the two fastest laps, including penalties, will receive 1st place, and so forth. Unlike Autocross, drivers do NOT have to work the course. Just sit back in a heated room sipping hot coco until your next driving session.

• November 19th, 2011
• December 17th, 2011
• January 14th, 2011
• Febuary 18th, 2011
• March 10th, 2011

I've devised a new configuration to kick off the 2011-2012 season. This course is brand new and has never been run before, so even the old timers have something to look forward to.

Also, registration is open at LapBattle.com... Head on over and sign up to reserve your number for the season.

I thought the Honda kids raced their cars... That's sad to hear.

Why wouldn't anyone race?  If the track is dry then its no different then racing during the summer.  This is an amazing program for cheap TIMED track time.  If I had the money to replace my bad tires I would be there on a dry track event.

Well, yeah. Jeff, if the track is DRY then go for it. I just dont see a FF doing any good in the other conditions, such as the slush, snow, mud etc described in the condition of the track.  ::) leave it to the AWD's.

Since there is no snow, Wintercross will be pretty much just like WOW but with timing!

On January 14th, we will be back on the new Inner Loop. This configuration is shorter, combined with fewer gates this should provide significantly more laps per day. Below is the track map, take note of the Speed Control Gate locations and new Start and Finish lines.

The Speed Control Gates will only be utilized to move the race line. These gates will be placed on straights right before a turn. This will allow competitors sufficient time to controllably set up for a gate and the subsequent turn, and should completely remove the opportunity to miss a gate or hit a barricade even in slippery conditions. The track time saved by no longer having to replace/rebuild the gates will be significant.

We will be using AMB Transponders, they are the traditional timing system used for all the race events at MMP. This provides instant timing and scoring. Competitors will have access to all their lap times as well as their standings within their class and the overall event. Transponder rental is $15, and you aren't required to have one. If you don't want timing you don't need a transponder. Also, everyone that participated in the December event will get their transponder rental fee waved in January.

Just a reminder, registration closes at 8:00 AM. No one will be allowed to register or rent a transponder after 8:00 AM. Competitors arriving late causes the event to start late, wasting valuable track time is very disrespectful to the other drivers and event workers.
