Not for a while. If I remember right, it didn't come out last year until March-ish.

i feel like a moron for posting this in here, but i'm not sure where else to put it haha.

anyways, a DOT approved dirt bike type helmet without a visor to cover your face is acceptable for WOW right?

Generally, a snell-approved helmet is needed. This includes both SA and M rated helmets (for instance, mine is a full-face M-2005). However, of all the times I have gone, no one has ever checked my helmet's tags. All they really look for is that you are wearing one. I think you could get away with just about any type of helmet.

With SCCA competitions, like auto-x for instance, they do look for the Snell rating. So a standard dirtbike helmet would not work for solo competition.

They do have helmets to rent on site as well.  Although they are like $25 each event to rent.  I've raced at 8 different WOW events and have never had my helmet or car inspected.  The last event I even raced with a cracked windshield.

yeah i don't really wanna fork over an arm and a leg to either rent one a few times or a buy a nicer new one unless they get on my case about it.

good to know that they aren't overly strict about that sort of thing until you move into the more serious events though.

When you get to that point, just search KSL. I bought my helmet on there slightly used for $85. I think it's an HJC AC-12, which is a snell ma-2005 (fine for any competition racing). Once you get into the higher-end auto racing helmets, they can skyrocket in price, upwards of 3, 4, 500 bucks.
