How long will his car hold?
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:44:48 AM »
So there is a kid at my school who thinks he knows a lot about cars.. He drives a 3rd gen gt eclipse with 180xxxish miles on it and is using a used eBay turbo set up with out an intercooler and going 9 psi... It's taken over a month for him to find someone to do it for him and it misfires pretty commonly.. Any bets until it pops?? I'm guessing a month  ;D and no he didn't build up the motor at all

I don't fucking care about your high school drama.
The Bible was written by the same people who thought the Earth was flat.

You're making fun of him because he thinks he knows cars, but you still feel the need to ask us how long it'll be until it blows. Sounds like you're less educated than him.

Technically speaking.

Since he is running no intercooler, his stock outer cooler will end up blowing the welds on the intake. This causing the oil return from his vvti to leak into his purge solenoid. Which controls the boost. At 9 psi, about 13 nm, this will happen in rapid concussion, causing oil and "boost" to creep.
