Turbo problems
« on: December 27, 2013, 07:59:05 AM »
I have a b16 turbo and it seems to be building boost inconsistent. Sometimes I will get 13 psi and sometimes I will get 4 psi on my gauge. I show 20 inhg at idle and the car seems to run pretty well.  I checked my intercooler piping and all seems to be intact. i guess what i am asking is where should i begin to look. any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Also check you gauge.  Make sure it's hooked up fully.  Could be faulty itself.

Make a boost leak tester it can be made for cheap buy a cap of 2.5'' pvc or whatever size your piping and glue a nipple on it and compress the nipple with air too detect leaks. I will try and find the thread somewhere someone made about it if you want

So on the way home every time I went to partial throttle you could hear a hissing from the engine. It's hard to say whether it's intake or exhaust that would be making the noise. Anyone of these suggestions could be the problem being that it is an eBay turbo kit. Thanks for the suggestions I will check all of these things and will attempt to make a boost leak detector thanks
