Got a dumb question about quick release steering wheel
« on: June 28, 2014, 08:41:15 AM »
Just bought a hatch with a quick release wheel on it now I know these can be used for somewhat of theft prevention but dont most all the wheels fit the same hub on the column? Because if you can just use any wheel that would be pointless in detering theft? They will just use one of their steering wheels?

I use to have a hatch with a QR wheel but never tried to see if other steering wheels would work on it. But if you're worried about this happening, you can always buy a hub lock to try and prevent or slow down a potential thief.

Alot of cheap qr`s (ebay) have the same pattern, not sure about nrg ones, this was my issue with those quick releases so i ended up getting a nrg slim quick release, totally different locking style then the traditional ones

It goes on to the bottom quick release portion and locks so nothing can be used on it, heres the link for the nrg site

You can still drive without a steering wheel btw. Lol. So not really that much of a theft deterrent.
